Peter Kitchen, whose abilities were respected and feared throughout the Championship and the lower divisions for over a decade , who should have played in the Premiership but was never offered the chance.
Peter Kitchen was spotted by Doncaster Rovers Football Club Manager, Lawrie McMenemy and signed for Rovers in June 1970, who beat Leeds United for his signature by just a few hours.
Between 1970 and 1985, Peter Kitchen went on to play for 5 different league clubs, including two spells at Leyton Orient Football Club and scored 213 senior goals from 546 senior appearances.
He was Fulham Football Club’s record transfer signing of over £150,000 in 1979 , a record that stood for 20 years until the club was bought by Harrods owner, Mohammed Al Fayed.
Not forgetting Peter Kitchen’s two goals at Chelsea Football Club, in the 1978 FA Cup 5th Round replay at Stamford Bridge, Orient went on to win 2 – 1 and eventually reach the FA Cup Semi-Finals.
