During his 13-year tenure, Terry played for an impressive 16 football clubs across England and Europe, leaving a mark on each team. Notably, his role in Sheffield Wednesday FC’s resurgence during the late 1970s and early 1980s is etched in the memories of the club’s loyal supporters.
One of the most memorable moments was when Brian Clough expressed interest in signing Terry but was deterred by the hefty price tag. Instead, he tactfully informed Terry’s brother, leading to a strategic move that eventually landed Terry at Nottingham Forest for £50,000 in August 1975.



His time at Forest was impactful, with 48 games played and 12 goals scored, contributing to the team’s promotion to Division One in the 1976–77 season. Nottingham Forest’s subsequent triumphs in the First Division Championship and back-to-back European Champions League trophies added to Terry’s legacy in the sport.
In his autobiography, “Regrets of a Football Maverick,” released in October 2012, Terry delves into the highs and lows of his colorful career. Additionally, his book “Gimme The Ball: My Take On The Beautiful Game,” published in September 2021, offers a candid exploration of football’s nuances, featuring insights on legends like George Best, Alan Ball, and Brian Clough, who influenced Terry’s dynamic journey.
