The Grand Norfolk Charity Auction 2015 has these three amazing Team GB Olympic 2012 sporting opportunities that have been exclusively donated to this years auction to help raise awareness and valuable funds for the charities supported within the Lord Baker Community Fund which supports local Norfolk focussed charities and a grant-giving scheme to Norfolk community projects. The charities supported within the Lord Baker Community Fund are East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH); Star Throwers Cancer Care and Support; Chapel Road School for Severely Disabled Children, Norfolk Community Foundation and in December this year Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) will be added to the fund.
WHITE WATER RAFTING:
Lee Valley Water Sports Centre
One of our Two Gold Medal Winning Slalom Canoeists TIM BAILLIE and ETIENNE STOTT will be your hosts for this unique event.
This is the awesome thrill seeking opportunity to go white water rafting down the Olympic Course at Lee Valley, the scene of the 2012 Olympic Medal rush for Team GB. After safety briefing and swimming practice; throughout the afternoon you will have three runs down the course with a buffet provided afterwards. Ideal for team building and adrenaline junkies alike, you also get to meet an Olympic champion. You will be joined on one of your runs by Tim or Etienne. All winners must be confident swimmers.
Additional guests are welcome to watch, though a cover charge will be made for any additional diners.
LEE VALLEY VELO PARK:
Track Cycling and Meet with a GB Cycling Medallist
This rare opportunity to ride the Lee Valley Velo Park (the home to the Olympic cycling in 2012) and meet an Olympic Medallist is available tonight. This experience will include a buffet meal and the opportunity to hear from the Medallist on their career, have photos with them, and more importantly to ride on the same track as our GB Olympians and Paralympians did in 2012 and be coached by one of British Cycling’s top coaches provided by the Lee Valley Velo Park.
After briefings from the Velo Park Coaches and the bike fitting you will be placed into one of two groups of eight which will spend between them approximately an hour on the track as part of a taster session to Velodrome cycling. You will then get to post a Flying Lap or two in a bid to take home a Medal.
When not on the track you can get photos of you with the Medallist. All equipment, including track bikes are provided. Spectators are welcome.
VIP ROWING DAYS:
Henley on Thames
This experience is the unique opportunity to Row alongside a GB Olympian, past, present and no doubt future. Meet at a boat club in Henley where you will be welcomed by the GB Rowers and introduced to life as an elite rower. Initial coaching will be done on the rowing machines where advice on techniques will be given. Then to the boat shed where the boat familiarisation will take place.
Quadruple sculls will take to the water complete with Olympian in each boat and each boat crew will have a short RELAXING training session on the water. We will endeavour to mix and match the crews and Olympians.
At the post experience reception, you will be joined by the GB Rowers and one of the London 2012 Gold Medallists to enjoy the Medal Ceremony and post regatta Hospitality with the chance to talk all things London 2012 and Rio 2016 with the athletes. All boat equipment and safety gear is provided.
Additional guests are welcome to watch proceedings throughout the day and to attend the reception and photo session with the Olympians.
